“How could a teacher possibly disappear on a field trip?” Scat, by Carl Hiaasen, is a realistic fiction/mystery book. It is one of the best books I have read. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys mysteries and wants to protect nature.

  A school field trip ends horribly when a fire catches at Black Vine Swamp. Ms. Starch goes back into the fire to retrieve someone’s inhaler, but does not come back! Two of her students, Nick and Marta, worry about her and start trying to find clues about her disappearance. When they sneak into her house one night, they weren’t the only ones there! When the intruder forces them into his car, he tells them, “Never to speak of this again!”

  My favorite part of the book is when they finally find what they have been looking for the entire time. “Panther scat!” I would rate this book an eight out of ten. It is very entertaining and it keeps you wondering about what happens next!
